A beautiful, bright Saturday morning out there.
I needed to hear Johnette Napolitano’s voice this morning.
This, Free, and Walking In London are all phenomenal records, and as soon as Bloodletting is over, I immediately need to listen to Walking In London.
They are two I cut my CB teeth on as a kid.
“Joey” is the big recognizable jam here, but the whole album is great.
Not a happy record AT ALL.
It is essentially Johnette’s diary of her particularly bad relationship at the time, and even she herself says it’s a dark, self indulgent record to help deal with all the turmoil.
It’s very dark, but very sincere and honest.
Besides… Peter Buck is on it!
Such an underrated band.

Nobody seems to remember the #ApacheDancers anymore. They were #ConcreteBlonde-affiliated, Earle Mankey produced, and featured old #RankAndFile drummer Slim Evans - not to mention French singer Bernadette Colomine, who'd go on to do French subtitles/dubbing for #LeonardCohen DVDs. Their 1990 take on #BobbyEdwards' early 60s country hit, "You're The Reason" - reimagined as a kind of Nancy & Lee duet! - is well worth a listen.

Really needing to dive into some self care with all that’s going on.
#ReflexiveControl is where an actor shapes the thoughts of an adversary, leading them to make decisions and take actions that result in harm to themselves, but benefit to the manipulative actor.
Someone at the higher levels of this art would study their adversary's traits in detail, to manipulate them.
Into their adversary's mind they would drive their own message and suppress all other ideas.
The confused and unaware would be ideal targets:

Every month or two I find a reason to listen to Concrete Blonde's 1990 album "Bloodletting". Johnette Napolitano is one of my favorite songwriters and vocalists of that era. Her voice ranges from husky to silky at various points throughout the album.
