  3. I created this #ConceptMap several years ago to help people navigate the information I share in my #Tutor #Mentor library. I show this & a second version in this article. tutormentor.blogspot.com/2022/

If you host a library what ways do you help people use it?

  4. I created this #conceptmap in late 2000s to guide users to subsections of library I've built since 1990s. At bottom of each node (see red circle) is a link to an external website and/or another map. cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=123872

If you like the cMap, send a contribution.

  5. @Qolfa_book

Here's another #ConceptMap that focuses on your comment. cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=123872

SDGs information collection is a constant effort. However, a robust public education effort (step 2) along with facilitation of understanding (step 3) is needed.

These need to point to places (the map) and organizations, where resources & talent are needed to achieve goals.

Map/directories need to identify these places and organizations.

  6. @hrheingold That's a great #conceptmap.

Take a look at this one, showing the flow of information across time and it's use to support efforts to help kids in high poverty areas. I show elements of this cMap in this blog article. tutormentor.blogspot.com/2021/

The link to the cMap is cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=1K36M9

  7. This #ConceptMap shows four sections of a web library that I started building in late 1990s. The section I circled is unique to #Chicago. The rest can be used by the world. cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=123872

As I've connected w people from Africa, Asia, South America over many years, I've encouraged them to build their own library, and follow my strategies for drawing users to it.

Ideally this would happen from universities w constant flow of student talent.

    Who is doing this?

  8. On the left side of the #conceptmap I show challenges facing poor people & people of color. Note how many times I cite #racism.

Unlearning beliefs that have been embedded over more than 400 years in the US will require extraordinary creativity & leadership.

  10. I've been using the Internet since the late 1990s to find people w the different talents/skills shown in this #ConceptMap, who were focused on helping kids in high poverty areas move through school and into adult lives, with the help of volunteers met in organized #tutor #mentor programs. cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=123872

Ideally each node would have links to social media accounts of such people. Finding, and keeping them involved, has been difficult.

Use the cMap for your own team building.

  11. In 2009 one of my Northwestern University fellows created a #conceptMap showing groups at NU who could be working together to help youth #tutor #mentor programs grow in areas around the university. See the article he wrote at chrispip.blogspot.com/2009/07/

Meet other 2006-2015 interns at michaelcnt.blogspot.com/

The vision for this came from my organization, not from any NU leader. That needs to change. Teams at every university could be doing similar work, for the same goals.

  12. @tellio

Being ahead of the curve and waiting for others to catch up would be great if I were in my 40s. I'm 76 and don't know how many years I have left.

That means I need to find others who make it their passion to share my ideas with others.

I created this #conceptmap to point to how some people have done that. These are good, but not the consistent effort needed. tinyurl.com/TM-BlogNet-Map

  13. I created this #conceptmap a few years ago to share articles that others were writing about my efforts to help #volunteer-based #tutor #mentor programs reach k-12 youth in high poverty areas. cmapspublic.ihmc.us/rid=1PW8PN

As the new school year unfolds I hope many will write new articles, reaching new people or reminding old friends, that helping kids from 1st grade to 1st job is a 12 to 20 year task. #socialcapital #education #clmooc

  14. In an attempt to keep track of the fast-moving world of generative AI, I created this concept map that may be helpful to you. I'm still learning... if you find something missing or just plain wrong, tell me so I can fix it.

  15. hive mind, can you help me find my ideal #mindmap #conceptmap tool?

i want it to work on all platforms, allow you to hand draw a map and then digitise it, where all those nodes are also databased (not just 'outline view' but fully searchable/sortable). and ideally also has collab functions (maybe via dig whiteboard or equiv) as well as export/easily viewable to private group online (in its fully dynamic form).

been looking for this unicorn for years. it probably still doesn't exist yet.

    ta!

  16. Does anyone know of a graph/concept map software where it's possible to link an individual sentence's word, which is inside a node/balloon, to another node/balloon?

Bonus points if it can link to another page/document too.

CmapTools doesn't let me do this.
Searching for alternatives, preferentially offline/desktop ones.

  17. 🤯 Absolutely stunned by what #TiddlyWiki tiddlywiki.com, the „non-linear personal web notebook“, has become since the last time I checked it out ~10 years ago!

„A rich, interactive tool for manipulating complex data with structure that doesn't easily fit into conventional tools like spreadsheets or wordprocessors.“

#TiddlyMap tiddlymap.org adds a #mindmap-like rich visual representation to your tiddlers! Wow!
