  1. Successfully migrated from a ConBee II to the newer ConBee III USB-stick on our HomeAssistant! I would not have looked forward to manually re-pairing 16 Zigbee devices…
And I’ll only have to open a single ticket on a documentation/UI issue in HA ;-)

Also the OPNSense update went through without a hitch, but that was also my expectation.

  6. Is where a #howto to get a #conbeeIII work with #zigbee2mqtt ?

I always got back to the “onboarding screen” and cannot see anything in my #MQTT explorer.

I bought a #AqaraW100 and the implementation in #ZHA is really poor.

  8. Alright! Got everything paired again (at least I think I got everything), and have added a whole bunch more Aqara switches. Already the range on the SLZB is far and above that of the #conbee - I can definitely recommend spending the extra if you're considering one or the other. That, and having this as an ethernet adapter feels like migrating to a new machine/container later on would be far simpler.

Now I just have to get #homeassistant tidied up and #homeassistantvoice configured in a sane manner! So far it's still pretty hit and miss.

  12. #HomeAssistant with #ZHA in #Podman just crashed hard.

The #ConBee 2 stick restarted (probably due to Frigate #FFmpeg #OOMKiller), thus the ttyACM-path changed.
    But that didn't exist anymore.
    So ZHA stopped running.

Didn't get this to work reliably without --privileged … so HA now runs in a privileged Podman container with passed through /dev.

  15. Auf dem Homeserver laufen jetzt #HomeAssistant sowie ein #MQTT Broker via #Podman. Angeschlossen ist ein #ConBee II USB-Stick. Bis jetzt tut alles wie es soll - ich bin soweit zufrieden.

  18. @JackbyDev @hillbicks Philips Hue works with the zingbee protocol. You can integrate every single IOT in #homeassistant or you integrate the hub. I use the internal #zigbee protocol with the #conbee usb stick and it work flawlessly. With zingbee you can use also other IOTs from different manufacturers like IKEA or osram or some Asian brands. Just have a look at the Homeassistant homepage for all existing integrations.

  19. Orrr.

Also ein komplettes Setup, was an jeder Stelle manuelle Eingriffe benötigt.

    Geil.

  25. @damacus I'm not sure ZigBee supports multiple coordinators in a single network? I've got a single #Zigbee coordinator (#Conbee) relaying using #Zigbee2MQTT for better availability to work around that issue.

  30. @archie2870 ok that's cool to hear. I'm in the middle of setting a bunch of automation at home and I've been doubling down on #zigbee but wifi hadn't crossed my mind. Probably not a great idea with the ISP-provided router that I have compared to having a dedicated #conbee zigbee gateway.

How is the whole setup working for you?
