We use an #IndividualBasedModel to explore potential future bryozoan assemblage dynamics. We show that successional patterns strongly depend on the duration of the growing season as well as on the spatial distribution of predation events - which are both likely to change due to #ClimateWarming...

It’s definitely my favourite time of the academic year when my #ComputationalEcology students start building their own individual-based models. This year’s assignment is to build a little forest ecosystems and to study how tree-liana interaction networks affect system stability. More precisely, we ask wether and how different network structures affect network resilience. Oh, I can’t wait to see the final results in about 3 weeks time… 🤩

Dear fellow modellers, I'm looking for inspiration for my #ComputationalEcology course. Anyone interested in exchanging ideas?
Each participant is supposed to build their own individual-based model towards the end of the semester. Last year's project was about indirect evolutionary rescue and the year before was about the intermediate disturbance hypothesis. I want to come up with a new challenge so things don't get boring. Something #ecoevo would be perfect but I feel stuck...
