I finished #SouthOfMidnight, which had a pretty interesting story, original music, and a very authentic atmosphere. It's not a big surprise for me as I like #Contrast, so I knew what to expect from #CompulsionGames but It is clear that legacy gaming media are out of touch with reality.

Writing and graphics can take you high yet not enough in videogames.
#SouthOfMidnight seems like that. An ambitious story under a captivating environment, but with dollar-store gameplay that makes fun a chore.
A perfect example for a 7/10 game. It's fine, but could have been better.

Nothing excites me more in gaming than deep, detailed, lovingly crafted world-building, and Compulsion Games' South of Midnight looks to be absolutely dripping with it. The kind of rich, lose-yourself narrative, the same feeling you get from a truly beloved novel or movie.
It is increasingly clear that the dev team behind this game cares so, so much about getting it right. This is utterly fantastic.

That thing is going to be true to any game, like #SouthOfMidnight. If the gameplay is mid, and story doesn't break through, you will have a very mediocre game.
From all previews I've seen, this game is going to be a perfect 60%.
