  1. CW: Urgently seeking work, please boost!

Good day netizens. Blue has returned after 10 years in tech, once again on the job hunt. I have worked a variety of roles from hands-on computer repair to Sys admin and more. In that time, I have accrued several certifications including the #Swimlane Certified #SOAR Administrator, #CompTIA #Network+, #Security+, #Pentest+, and #SecurityX . I'm currently looking for #remotework for anywhere in the #US . I'm targeting #cybersecurity roles, since that is what I am passionate about and my certifications are focused in, but I am also open to other IT roles such as software engineer, dev ops, etc. I'm a #transgender woman trying to provide for her #LGBTQIA family and any pay would greatly help us make ends meet as we try to survive in this refuge state where the cost of living is so much higher than back home. Boosts and sharing is welcome, thanks for your time and help.

  2. Learning Spanish, working on my networking certificate, playing citystates, cycling, walking, and exercising has really helped me a lot. Happy I've found ways to cope with the country going to such shit.

  3. Take today, I reinitialised my VPS and this time, the first thing I did was:

    - `sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y`
    - then I installed important pkgs: podman (yeah, I took you guys advice and went for a podman quadlet setup), git, tmux (was already installed), cryptsetup, and others
    - then I `fallocate -l 30G /secure`
    - then `cryptsetup luksFormat /secure` to establish the cryptographic boundary
    - then `cryptsetup luksOpen /secure vault` and formatted the mapped volume with mkfs.ext4
    - I mounted the decrypted block to my application directory to serve as an isolated persistence layer for my data
    - wrote the declarative .container, .network, and .volume Quadlet files for my routing and vault services, dropping them into ~/.config/containers/systemd/
    - executed systemctl --user daemon-reload and my (semi-)self-hosted service were ready.

    So much 'then' 😂

  4. First time I went through to CompTIA Linux+ course, I just went through it, in order to pass the exam. And then I took a test ... to test my newly acquired knowledge (before going for the real exam). I scored below 600 😞.

So I have decided to go through it from the beginning again, this time I want to do it slowly (which to me seems stupid, as I need a certification to begin submitting applications... I am running on fumes now), and familiarise myself with each linux tool, what they do, when they should be used, and how they should be used.

  5. Oh, fuck, well, if for some reason you were still of the misconception that certs in general (and those through CompTIA in particular) were just a money-grab: you can straight buy CEU credit. I thought it was bad enough that they had the slacker option of the CertMaster open-book retest to keep your cert (which I absolutely rely upon because I hate paperwork).

  6. Thinking about finally sitting down and knocking out my Linux+ certification.

For those of you who've been through it: what actually helped? Study guides, practice exams, specific resources you'd recommend?

    Drop your tips below.

  7. Never assume that just because a server is Ubuntu or RHEL, that its filesystem is ext4 or XFS.

Always verify with `df -hT` or `lsblk -f` before you start tuning mount options or disk quotas. Assumptions are the fastest way to break a perfectly good configuration (speaking from new experience). A two-second check ensures you are working with the right metadata before you begin the initialisation process.

    Verification over guesswork, every time.

  9. Recently completed the #CAPT (#Certified #Associate #Penetration #Tester) Certification and received the #CWSE (#Certified #Web #Security #Expert) today.

Thanks a lot #Hackviser. This will help add up to the knowledge I have in my #cybersecurity #cybersec #ethicalhacking #redteaming #informationsecurity #infosec skills including the knowledge and skills gotten from my #networking #course from the #CompTIA CompTIA, Inc. #Network+ that I completed recently as well.

However, for me, University of the People is pretty much like a refresher because everything I expected from them has basically already been covered in courses I’ve already done. Haha!

  10. I got an answer wrong but it was THE RIGHT ANSWER. 😡 #wtf

Thankfully my professor gave me credit for the "missed" answer and is reporting the error to #CompTIA which is what the quiz was through. 👌🏻

  12. I'm working hard on making my Humble Bundle library like my Steam library. A lot of stuff in and no time for nothing ^^.

    But anyways:

There is a great Book Bundle on Software Architecture: de.humblebundle.com/books/soft

And again a Course Bundle with preaparations for #CompTia, #OffSec and other #cybersecurity certifcates and more.

  13. Making a new #introduction because my old one is outdated lol.

I'm Firal. Currently the only moderator of fuzzies.wtf that's fairly active. However! That isn't the point.
I'm 21, and an avid #collector of physical entertainment media. Music, animated stuff, and video games specifically. I've amassed quite the #vinyl collection the past couple of years, and I'm very proud of it.
I am currently unemployed, and have been for ~1.5 years now, but in that time I've been getting #CompTIA certified through a college/trade school. I have my A+ cert, and am in the final stretch of getting my Network+ cert. Afterwards, employment time (hopefully)!
I am a US resident that wants to eventually move somewhere in Europe, and I'm sure you can already guess why.
I do occasional #art and #photography, and post about my collections sometimes on my other account, @xftspd (if you're interested).

That's basically it! If you have any common interests, a follow would be much apreciated! I'll probably even follow back :)

  14. I passed my #CompTIA #Linux+ exam yesterday!
Thanks to ACI Learning for helping me study.
