Sure, #AlboPM is the best of three evils (#Labor, #LNP and #PHON) but there are alternatives if voters bother to think about it longer than a couple of minutes. And, I get your point about #SkyNews but would also point out it’s free to air everywhere. Here again, if voters were to think for more than a couple of minutes, the #Murdocracy wouldn’t have such a hold on their lazy brains.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but choosing a lesser evil rather than working to get better representatives into #Parliament is just apathetic #democracy and there is an enormous price to pay for such #complacency.

Our society has learned to promote #complacency into a virtue. You call it a "moderate stance", and it's suddenly a good thing. Opposing evil is bad; it's extremist position, almost as bad as the evil itself. Complacency sounds bad too. But "hey, I don't support evil, I just keep an open mind, a moderate position here", and you're suddenly a praiseworthy person. Maybe "just a little, necessary amount of evil" is good, after all.

"Although the changing climate is the biggest problem, the way we react to or ignore the changes could make a bad situation worse, experts said.

Marshall Shepherd, a University of Georgia meteorology professor who previously served as president of the American Meteorological Society, said people tend to base decisions on how they fared during past extreme weather events, including storms that didn’t end up directly affecting them. This leaves them overly optimistic that they’ll also fare well today, even though storms have grown more fierce.

He points to the Texas flooding.

'That is flash flood alley. We know that floods happen in that region all the time. ...
