If your town and its precious water supply become a target for secretive #datacenters, a tiny town in rural #Wisconsin that relied on grassroots opposition has a #communityorganizer toolkit for stopping the takeover of resources by corporate #tech behemoths

Hell, he no doubt used his experience in the US Army #CorpsOfEngineers to design that long wire #hamradio antenna that stayed up in that #Montclair, NJ backyard for 20+ years after we left. 😆

A true old school #raceman and #communityorganizer he was busy organizing employees and residents at Treyton Oak Towers almost to the end of his life. His was a life of servant leadership. Thank you Dad. I love you. I'm proud of you. 😢

A quotation from Bill Watterson

CALVIN: I’ve noticed that comic book superheroes usually fight evil maniacs with grandiose plans to destroy the world. Why don’t superheroes go after more subtle, realistic bad guys?

HOBBES: Yeah, the superhero could attend council meetings and write letters to the editor, and stuff.

CALVIN: Hmmm … I think I see the problem.

HOBBES: “Quick! To the Bat-Fax!”

The #PowerOfStories has never been lost on Alex Villafuerte. The stories he watched on television when he was younger, would help him connect to his #Filipino #culture . Later, negative rhetoric about COVID-19 would result in #ActsOfViolence & #hatred toward #Asian communities he belongs to. It’s this range of stories, their #influence, and how people respond to them that has shown up in his work as a long-time #CommunityOrganizer & #advocate .

#AsianMastodon #SanDiego

Hi everyone! Excited to be here! 😀 Here's my #introduction -

I'm an #educator, #guitarist, #bandleader and #communityorganizer based in #Houston, #Texas, USA.

I have a #MastersDegree in #guitar from #NewEnglandConservatory.

I regularly perform #classicalguitar, #SpanishGuitar, #jazz, #swing, #flamenco, #bossanova, #tango, #samba, #popular and #Latin music in solo, duo or small groups.

I love to collaborate on guitar or music education. It's a joy to connect w/you!

Happy now! - Edward

So, #introductions.

I'm Hugh. I live in Jackson, MS, and yes, it's complicated. I'm a #CommunityOrganizer and #writer. I #blog and have #cats and a raging case of #ADHD.

When not fighting the man, I tend my #garden and build habitat for #wildlife in my backyard.

I read a lot of books, Like, a lot. No, more than that. I publish a newsletter each week about finding beauty in an ugly world.

And I'm a prisoner of hope.

I'm going to reintroduce myself since the site is growing so quickly.

I teach #philosophy at Lorain County Community College in Ohio, USA. That makes me a #philosopher, although I don't do much research.

I'm also a #CommunityOrganizer and #Activist with Showing Up for Racial Justice North East Ohio. I have a spouse and two teenaged kids.

I plan to frequently post about human rights abuses at the Cuyahoga County Jail, but I promise to always use content warnings.

Hi kolektiva! I just migrated here from an old mastodon.social account, which I hadn't really been using. Am part of the big birdapp migration.

My #introduction, with an alarming number of hashtags for searchability.

I'm an #activist / #communityOrganizer in local politics, especially around topics of #antiracism & #acab & #trans rights.

Former software engineer, sidelined by lack of #disability access. I have chronic #migraine. I'm also #neurodivergent (#adhd, #actuallyAutistic).

I am obsessed with extinct #hominids (ok that one's never going to trend) and also primatology, especially #gorillas, #chimpanzees and #bonobos.
