i honestly avoid some ex-mormon content too. they have every right to tell their story in their words. but sometimes they treat things i believe as inherently stupid and say things like "why would anyone (or worse, "a Black person") ever believe this?" they are always white. who are you, again?
#CommunityofChrist history with race is different, better imho, but it isn't great in regards to the treatment of Black saints. Early #Black #LatterDaySaints are awesome & their storys should be told!

also. they really should pick up on the #LatterDaySaint thing. why are you showing me the type of protestants that wouldn't like me based on that alone.
i do have a history of watching saints unscripted (i know, i know. but when they talk about us (#RLDS / #CommunityofChrist) i tell the truth in the comments. bc they don't do diligent research. or talk to us apparently.")
but that would be #LDS (L-dS) content still. it also sends me academic christian material, which does peak my interest.

the Enduring Principles are a #CommunityOfChrist thing. major crossover with secular humanistic principles.
we meet Saturdays at 8 EST.
we're are lgbtq affirming (and led currently)
#ProgressiveChristianity #StarTrek yes we are a sect of #LatterDaySaints . there are many different traditions

in my article, i make the point that D&C 116 does reflect the CofC Enduring Principles and that 116 was prophetic. The revelation was Inspired by God but also came through a human and, therefore, isn't perfect or inerrant.
Also that we should approach the scripture as is stated in #CommunityOfChrist Statement on Scripture and interpret it responsibly instead of removing it. that scripture shouldn't be "hide it away so no one can see it" because some church members find it shameful now.

last night at the #CommunityofChrist #StarTrek discussion group someone equated Zefram Cochrane to Joseph Smith Jr. and it was hilarious.
the episode was #StarTrekEnterprise "Regeneration" and T'Pol is casting doubt on Zefram's recount of the Borg (from "First Contact" and with the reason that Zefram was known for having an "overactive imagination", and being "frequently intoxicated". which is true and even the human captain had to agree.

#CommunityOfChrist 's idea of #Zion does not require colonization. it's a concept in that Zion is where we are and we are to build Zionic communities. Sometimes we live together, farm together, worship in each other homes together, and share resources with each other. also, those who are not latter day saints are welcomed and embraced (now). Communities where we live under Zionic principles (similar to humanistic but make it #mormon).

That said, it set a bad precedent because W. Wallace Smith never should have had it. Hate to say, I do not believe in his prophetic authority. His cousin should have been the choice. Even this FP has abused it, and I do think they are called to their positions.

Ruth Smith, professor and Graceland College and the wife of Fred M Smith, 3rd prophet of Community of Christ and Joseph Smith Jr. grandson, was very feminist. Love that for her and her family.
she went up to JSIII (2nd prophet, Fred M's Dad) who was officiant of their (surprise) wedding and was like "promise to not ask me to obey in our wedding vows."
JSIII was like "dw. i wasn't going to do that."
love that for both of them.
