The AEC has redistributed the Woden suburbs of Curtin, Hughes, Garran and Lyons from the electorate of Canberra to Bean. And community independent candidate for Bean, Jessie Price, is ready to welcome them!

Jessie and volunteers are organising a letterboxing day of action to welcome every household in those four suburbs to Bean.

Starting at 1pm on Saturday 18 July, finishing with a catch up at the Statesman at 3pm.

“Sensible economic management” is the political equivalent of “common sense” — everyone claims it, but the real question is: sensible for who?
A country where housing is unaffordable, wealth is concentrating, and climate risks are escalating doesn’t need more cautious centrism. It needs courage.
The challenge for the teals: will they reform the system, or simply make the same system look more polite?

So far the discussion seems to involve the answer: Yes, No, or Maybe. The weekend saw good articles in #TheSaturdayPaper (Karen Barlow) and Canberra Times (Jack Waterford). The discussion has emphasised post election funding distributed by AEC.

Not really covered so far are: Reps v. Senate, party candidate selection, and the different view from encumbency. (1/3)

ACT has two new “voices” groups: #Belconnen / #Gungahlin and #Canberra, styled as #communityIndependents. The latter featured in today’s Canberra Times.

I have explored things “voices” for many years and maybe should write more about it one day, but ... First, I think it’s a good thing. Second, it may be little understood these groups are not bottom-up. #ACTPol #AUSPol

Congratulations to #JimChalmers & the #Labor party for achieving in their first term something that the #LNP could not manage to achieve in 9 horrific years of financial incompetence, #socialSuffering & political announcements. The saving grace here is that these are private companies that are making things happen because it is financially beneficial & fits into the grand plan - the Integrated System Plan designed by AEMO which runs the #NEM.
The "brilliant minds" in the #LNP don't understand how the system works & the cost/benefit analysis, so it would be #brave to mess with it. And the new #LNP don't actually make decisions, they generally let things slide & make announcements! 😆 🤓
Also you know my views on the
#CommunityIndependents & the #Greens, so winning a majority on their own will be extremely challenging! 🥂

@HardBeingGreen Hey Paul, did you see this make-up of the House Of Reps that I posted back in May. I think the numbers are very clearly against a #Liberal / #LNP majority.
I don't believe that Dutton can possibly win back the "Teal" seats (#Climate200 is not going away & will be supporting more #CommunityIndependents, I believe) & I can't imagine that you would think they will win those #Green seats in #Qld ... do you?
Or am I being too optimistic ? 🤓 😮

@InsurgoFormica Well that is more likely, but there are quite a few reporters at #abcnews who are very close to the dark side & specialise in disparaging #CommunityIndependents & #TheGreens & #Labor. 🙄
