Let us help. We have resources to help you talk about gun violence in your classroom and community. We wish we didn't need to.
To start sensitive discussions around gun violence, we recommend Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down, the story of gun violence survivor Gabby Giffords, and our free discussion guide.
The team that worked on our teaching resources for Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down included gun violence survivors — and it shows. These materials are powerful, accessible and not political at all. Our Gabby Giffords Won't Back Down Learning Guide also includes our Facilitation Guidelines for Group Discussions, to help students voice things they need to talk about.

Box breathe. Four in, hold four, out four, hold four. Passionflower binds GABA-A receptors — drops cortisol without sedative rebound. Text one person what you genuinely noticed about them. Not a check-in. An observation. Connection is the immune system of a community under pressure.

For this past Mother’s Day, FCJ Refugee Centre hosted a Creative Wellness Workshop to create a safe, welcoming and healing space for migrant women. Participants called the experience relaxing and therapeutic. We focused on connection, and self-care while building meaningful friendships in our community.
Special thanks to Carolina Gajardo for her time, kindness and support throughout the event.

What does community unity, solidarity, and resilience look like? The 𝙐𝙣𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙣 Learning Guide explores how storytelling serve as a tool for healing communities, families, and individuals affected by trauma. 🤝
Section 5 Echoes and Restorations – Healing Trauma Across Generations explores the concept of intergenerational trauma and highlights how storytelling can become a pathway to restoration. Students reflect on how communities can build unity to find healing through truth-telling, solidarity, and shared memory. 💞
We warmly recommend this lesson for supporting communities and healing trauma through storytelling. We hope you will share it widely.

Dear _ ,
⚖️ I imagine a #Lethbridge where Justice has oscillated from retribution (punishment) to recovery. 🌿 Restorative justice is pursued seriously. No more prisons, nor armed police. I imagine us supporting those who struggle. We dismantle the criminalization of poverty. Fossil fuel giants are held to account for what they have done, while society evolves. How can I contribute to this future, where healing triumphs over harm? 💡 What can I do here & now? #RestorativeJustice #CommunityHealing

But posting on Instagram has been fun. It has made talking about therapy and other things easier with my friends.
Our conversations are deeper now, than just surface level. We find that we are closer than we ever were, because we know that we all lead regular imperfect lives.
Strangers have found courage to confront their sexual assaulters after reading what i have shared. They have come out and discussed more about sex.

As a person who has been brought up in a privileged middle class household, we have always worked hard to keep our image intact.
I have been forced to work hard to be financially independent and focus on leading a better life.
In the process i found that there wasn't much room to share my feelings of loneliness, lost childhood, insecurities.
As an adult now, i find that i can't talk to my family about it.

Late 2017 and 2018 were both bad times of the year for me.
Both years found me rushing for therapy and finding lots of empathy in those around me, after i built the courage to open up to them about my troubles.
This year in therapy, one thing i have realised is that talking about low periods and difficult times makes it easier to heal.
