  1. Spent some time at the #CommunityGarden today. Planted some #BlackBeans and #Potatoes, and pulled up some weeds (the flowers should be popping up after all that rain). Had a cool conversation with my neighbor who is a selectboard member and who helped get the garden going again, and told him what a great job he is doing. I mean, #composters, #rainbarrels, making the #CommunityCenter an #EmergencyShelter, supporting #DatacenterMoratoriums and #SmartGrowth. What more could one ask for in a town rep!

  2. They extended this "Dora Zone" last year to cover the new 'Electric Works' District of the old GE plant. It stretches from Promenade Park to Parkview Ball Field and then over to Electric Works. It's sure to cover all the new condos built downtown! - I've heard New Haven has something similar. #DORA #Headwaters #PromenadePark #ParkviewField #ElectricWorks #WellsStreet #TheLanding #PearlStreet #CommunityCenter #FreimannSquare #Downtown #FortWayne

  4. @ferret

    Good question! Some ideas:

    * Volunteer for an organization offering Linux help in your area (#RepairCafe, #LinuxUserGroup, #CryptoParty, etc.).

    * Organize an install event with a #Library, #CommunityCenter, etc.

    * Consider opening a #LinuxCafe (see here for some input invent.kde.org/websites/endof1)

Whatever you do, let us know about it so we can promote it in the context of the #EndOf10 !

  5. The growing complexity of client needs and funding challenges prompts Cool Aid to temporarily shutter its Downtown Community Centre

  6. With many churches closing, more and more community members are turning them into community centers.

They contain coffee shops, maker spaces, fitness, event space, community gardens, etc

"In 2015, the remaining church congregants put the old Rockville Church up for sale, and my family and I started the long process of purchasing the old building to convert it into a community center, finally closing on the property in 2017"
