These don't look very common when the light hits them just right. :)

Midnight Plumage
While exploring Savannah, Georgia near the Savannah River, I spotted this bird. Since we were so close to the coast, I assumed it was a boat‑tailed grackle, but I was wrong — it’s actually a common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula).Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story.

Mystical Grackle
When we’re out walking, I’m always scanning for birds, especially species that aren’t common in the area. I spotted this blackbird as it settled beneath a distant pine tree. The challenge of photographing a bird from afar, especially while holding the camera off-hand, is that I’m never quite sure whether I’ve focused on the bird itself or its surroundings. In this case, it was likely the latter—making me almost hesitant to share the shot. Still, the iridescent blue tint on the head and tail of this common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula) is striking.

Birdbath Perch
Uh oh, this common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula) stopped by my yard, checking out the feeders and the birdbath. She is the first grackle I've seen around my place, though I've detected their sounds. As long as she doesn't bring friends back, this is cool. Common grackles often travel in large numbers, especially in Texas. I'm not in Texas, but close.
Common Grackles are blackbirds that look like they've been slightly stretched. They're taller and longer tailed than a typical blackbird, with a longer, more tapered bill and glossy-iridescent bodies. Grackles walk around lawns and fields on their long legs or gather in noisy groups high in trees, typically evergreens. They eat many crops (notably corn) and nearly anything else as well, including garbage. ..." allaboutbirds.org
