"I’m a stay-at-home writer. If I’m in a café with my laptop, I can’t break down weeping or take a nap. At my house, I can walk around, lie down, make a ham sandwich." --Colson Whitehead

“Nickel Boys,” director RaMell Ross’ innovative new film, is based on the Pulitzer prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead about an abusive "reform" school for boys and provides a revolutionary perspective on the US's racist past. “There's no film this year, perhaps no film this decade, that looks and feels like ‘Nickel Boys,’ “ Kambole Campbell writes in this review for the @BBCNews:

Book 21: “The Underground Railroad” by #ColsonWhitehead.
When I was young, I understood this term literally. Whitehead’s alternate history does the same intentionally. The point of view alternates between Cora and other characters she encounters on her journey from the Georgia plantation she escaped. Whitehead creates harrowing and fascinating scenarios at each of the stops, illuminating the cruelty and contradictions at the heart of the United States.
