  1. Bag number 3 complete! The colour change in the pattern turned out perfectly 👌

If you know me IRL any future gifts will probably come in one of these bags - I'm just going to keep making them til I have no yarn left (ha!)

Some will be a bit more fancy, and some will be a bit more plain depending on the yarn I have available 😀

  2. The gradient on this colourwork is wonderful! This is what I was hoping the previous one would turn out like :D

  3. After musing "live" on my YouTube vlog about making bags to put Xmas gifts in this year, I decided I would give it a go - it's a great way to use up my yarns and practice colourwork!

I had hoped I could get a better colour change on this yarn as it's a variegated one, and I love how it can look with colourwork!

  4. As a child I disliked pink vehemently, wearing preferably blue. Still I really like blue, teal, etc.

But my daughter (just turned 4) really likes pink.... trust me, she didn't get it from me.

As an enlightened feminist I obviously give in to what she prefers. Reclaiming pink, one person at the time.

Time for more summer #knitting Cotton pinks and some contrast colours for the #colourwork garden tee I will make her. But first a little blanket (which will be my swatch!) for her owl.

  5. Am out of sync with ##FairIsleFriday but am not bothered.
The body of this cardie has progressed slowly. When I finish this band of dk red and yellow I'm grafting shoulders. Not decided if I'm first cutting sleeve holes Norwegian method, or knitting sleeves first. Will do one or other this holiday.
Will cut front opening and neckline Norwegian method, following an Arne&Carlos example.
Get to try picking up a lot of stitches for facings.

  17. Fair Isle Friday is a bit early bc I'm busy tomorrow.
Moved to 2 circs to let my knitting sprawl a bit: I was concerned my colourwork tension was too tight as I worked a lot of stitches on 1 needle.
Viewed from the back the tension is improving.

  18. More frogging and knitting again.
Found 1 new mistake in the re-knitted rows: have decided to carry on. I'm sure it's character building or something.

  19. _Sigh._
After careful measuring I've worked out that my Fair Isle piece...is probably too small for the recipient.
So: with much sighing and harrumphing, I've put it on a scrap yarn holder...and started again with a larger CO number.
In theory I can come back to it, ideally for myself, after I finish the bigger jersey.
_Much_ sighing. There's no way to knit 300+ sts per row quickly.

  20. I'm working on a cute woodland hat design and I thought you might like to see the wee foxes.

  21. Cast on several hundred stitches for a sweater for a mate. Will do a bit more before confirming the gauge. Despite lots of math I'm worried it's going to be small.
Geez this is slow. Tension is good but it takes a long time to finish 1 round.

  22. Practice piece for gauge and pattern.
Am going w a different pattern in the end.
Inside view shows the ridge caused by faulty tension when I changed needle sides.
    #knitting #colourwork #FairIsle #FairIsleFriday
I've cast on the sweater and am in endless ribbing stage.

  23. Wore these for a week and decided they were too short. Frogged the ribbing, added about 6 rows in a new peerie pattern, and ribbed again.

  24. Finished mismatched fingerless mitts from Shetland wool, as a way to learn colourwork. They're assembled in 2 different ways to try out steeks as a part of Fair Isle type knitting. Result: steeks are a 💩 way to create a thumb. Better solutions exist.
I've learned a lot and am now applying myself to a larger test piece, before attempting an actual sweater project. Requires a lot of v rusty arithmetic.

  29. This is why we knit. Someone loved their moose mittens. They sort of match her Home Alone Hat. Pattern is Moose Mittens by Kate Atherley. Yarn is Ashford Merino DK and Patons North America Classic. I added a Latvian Braid to honour her heritage. #moose #moosemittens #KateAtherley #TwistedHanks #HomeAlone #Christmas #OrthodoxChristmas #knitting #knittersofMastodon #colourwork #fibrearts #fiberarts @knitting @fibrearts

  33. Deeply pleased with how this #pochie from Kate Davies Design & Co's Allover pattern club is coming out. The pattern comes with several colourways and I've done the simplest two colour one - only I'm using this very variegated handspun which is really standing out against some plain Hebridean sheep wool in a natural dark brown. It's a hot water bottle cover, very timely!
