  1. Solved. I have confirmation that this clashes nicely. Thank yous.

Is neon green and pink a clashing combination of colours?
I need something very bad with neon green.

  2. I love being #colourblind because you get to play exciting games of "blood, poo or chocolate?" when cleaning up after your kids

  3. Want to know more about you can help those of us with CVD (1 in 12 born with XY, 1 in 200 born with XX =~ 300,000,000 people)

  8. Ah yes, we've entered the night are time of year for me where every..single..company decides to add a "Christmas" feel to their ads and material. e.g. red and green.

AKA the time when those of us who with #colourVisionDeficiency just...can't...read any of it and in extreme cases like mine get headaches from the constant barrage of it. Such a joyous time!

  9. I have quite a strong colour vision deficiency. One way it affects me is that I often miss red text on a dark or green background.
I used to have an app on my phone that would shift colours from the camera, so that I could at least see where the colour changes, if not give it a name. At some point that app stopped working with new versions of Android

This morning, while the kids were playing Minecraft, I spent a few minutes making a little web page that shows your webcam feed, and applies a hue-rotate filter to it. Nice and simple!

In case anyone's interested in my process, here's a recording of my "see colours any%" speedrun:

    media.aperiodical.com/colour-s

The page itself is at colour-shuffle.think.something

(if you don't have a camera it'll just look like an empty page)

  10. Autumn’s here and it’s a bittersweet time for me: joyously bidding farewell to the summer heat while getting annoyed with all the normies banging on about the beautiful autumn colours of the trees 🤨😀

    #colourblind

  11. @gsuberland hard nope on that: utter shit UX for people who are #colourblind.

There are three guys with CVD in my network team, a statistical anomaly for sure, but 1 in 12 men are colourblind, and 1 in 200 women.

  12. I quite enjoyed the email.wtf quiz that’s doing the rounds (11/21, must try harder!) but couldn’t tell if I got some of the questions wrong or right. The text of most responses makes it reasonably obvious, but not all.

Shout out to @samwho.dev to include signalling other than colours for the #colourblind contingent, please 🙏🏻

  13. 'Europe’s narrative is constructed on the exclusion of colonialism from its history, allowing the ideology of Europe’s racelessness. […] The disremembering of the colonial past shapes the contemporary perception of Europe as a progressive well-intentioned neutral mediator. Moreover, this colonial amnesia produces Europeans of color as outsiders and “aliens” threatening to the liberal continent’s identity.'

'Thus, racialized Europeans are forever “just arriving” and forgotten in the construction of a contemporary European identity. The book gives examples of continent’s Roma and Sinti populations who have resided in Europe for half a millennium and are constantly marginalized as foreigners.'

  17. Today in #ColourBlind: "Why is there an American flag on the floor?"

  18. Looks like I'm not the only one struggling with the graphics in #murderbot, and Zimmie isn't #colourblind

(Also, it's no better in HDR, for me at least)
    infosec.exchange/@bob_zim/1145

  19. Any other #colourblind #protanope folk struggling with the secunit’s “system” overlays in #murderbot? Most of them are in red and pretty much unreadable for me 😕

  20. @infobeautiful
Crikey! How best should we exploit this knowledge? Don't make interfaces with green-for-good? Use blue instead? Or is there a shade of turquoise that's a safe bet? Or have I got the wrong end of the string?

  21. Epic #accessibility fail from The Guardian here. Red and black completely indistinguishable for me and, I suspect, many other protanopes

    #colourblind

  22. I find it genuinely amusing (I am not aggrieved, or being snarky!) that Channel 4 TV in the UK is using #positivelyPurple as its tagline for #inclusivity, #accessibility and #disability rights activism

Many #colourblind people can’t see the colour purple 😂

  23. @llamasoft_ox PURPLE DOES NOT EXIST!

    #colourblind

(Seriously, though, accessibility: don’t make anything important purple, please? Some bits in Polybius were fucking impossible because of it)

  24. For any of the folks around here who are colour deficient, I am speculating this picture looks pooched to you as much as the more normative audience?

    #colorblind #colourblind

  25. @mdstevens0612 @kate sadly, Nintendo is notorious for not offering anything close to accessibility options in many of its games, or applying pressure to developers to include them in games on its platforms

This is not only me moaning as an old fart with poor dexterity and reflexes, but an old fart who's short-sighted and #colourblind

I've been gaming since the 1980s, and it saddens me that it's getting harder and harder as I get older

  26. Seriously BBC News, why would you use RED and PURPLE dots to differentiate things on a map?!?

Have you guys never heard of high contrast for #accessibility 😳🤯

  27. More facts
    - 6th Sept is John Dalton's birthday. Apart from a founding leader in atomic theory he was and the first to investigate it
    - ambient colours make a difference

    What can you do?
    - give more thought to colour in your designs
    - alt text your images (you should be doing this anyway)
    - stop using colour as the sole indicator of something

  28. Today, 6th Sept is . colourblindawareness.org/about
    Please Boost

    Some facts:
    - colourblind people can see colours, we just get them mixed up and inconsistently
    - people born with XY chromosomes have it
    - people born with XX chromosomes have it
    - 300million people have it
    - it's hereditary[1] and due to a defective X chromosome
