  4. We’re half way through our top 10 acts of kindness from 2025 and today’s is from Debs, one of our Kindness Ambassadors.

“One of my favourite kindness stories this year was from someone who was having a bad day at work and their colleague gave them a cup cake and a cup of tea, just to cheer them up. It showed how a simple act can make a big difference to someone’s day.”

I hope you have enjoyed reading these stories as much as I have. For more stories like this, follow us.

  5. “I was having ‘one of those days’ when everything at work seemed to be a problem - IT not working, an impromptu and time consuming meeting, a couple of grumpy people on phone calls…

By the afternoon, I was feeling a bit jaded and behind with my usual work. One of my work colleagues came back from a late lunch and, without a word, put a fresh cup of tea and a cup cake on my desk, just to cheer me up.”

Let’s hear about an act of kindness you’ve seen in your workplace ⬇️.

  6. #Editors, my #colleague Hazel Bird — ‬‪@wordstitchedits.bsky.social‬ — has developed #templates (one for MS Word for PCs & another for MS Word for Macs) that you can use to quickly set up thorough #style #sheets for the #manuscripts you #edit. Go read all about it: wordstitcheditorial.com/quicks.

  7. And my #colleague @WordsByWesInk has alerted me to this that you'll want to read too: an article from Iris van Rooij on the mess #ScienceDirect is making by adding links from terms in published articles going to #inaccurate #LLM-generated definitions. irisvanrooijcogsci.com/2025/08

  9. You think RFJ Jr. knows *anything* about #autism?! Then listen to my talented #colleague Ellis #Prybylski talk on AUTHORiTEA (on Substack) about the topic: "I am nobody’s tragedy. I am a goddamn triumph. I am skilled and capable and wise and loving." They're exactly right! Please share. substack.com/home/post/p-16154

  10. Kicking the discussion on project initiation #Colleague

  11. Today, I had another one of these moments. Two weeks ago I had a unfriendly, essentially exchange with a & felt annoyed. I couldn't catch her, so the lingered. Exhausting. Then I see her door open today. But: the feeling that I don't want to deal with the conflict, just want to duck away. Alas, I take the step and knock on her door. We have a chat & clear the air. It's always worth it, so why is it every time?

  12. I have a #colleague at #work who I work with regularly. Over the past few years we've had a few collisions with this person and I think I'm finally learning: Always as a very first thing I need to check the current temperature, the mood, and evaluate if I should postpone things we'd need to talk about or can I proceed with them. The mood varies a quite a bit between days.

How do you handle or deal with such colleagues?
