I now saw several talks addressing creativity when „writing“ with LLMs, either as main topic or a contributing one. All fail (or imply refuse) to define or operationalize „creativity.“ They mainly retreat to human annotation/assessment by applying „Humans know it when they see it.“ Which, hm, never mind

As I fill in one form after the other just to be able to give a keynote for a workshop at #COLING2025, I'm already looking forward to provide feedback to #ACL: 3 weeks before the conference they realize that speakers need to apply for a permit and processing takes at least 2 weeks, yeah!
Additionally, I just sent a copy of my passport + all information it shows as plain text via an unencrypted shitty web form. LOL

Our article (with @VincentLabatut and Richard Dufour) titled "The Role of Natural Language Processing Tasks in Automatic Literary Character Network Construction" just got accepted into #COLING2025. In the paper, we analyze the importance of named entity recognition and coreference resolution on the quality of character networks automatically extracted by a NLP pipeline (in that case, Renard). We also evaluate baseline LLM-based pipelines. Preprint coming soon!
