Folk have been making overblown medical claims for cold water for a long-time.
Turns out one of the first proposals for a controlled trial (on #scabies fwiw) was a C19th Irish Dr trolling a cold-water proponent.

Recently discovered cold water therapy. I refuse to call it ice bath cus it not ice, it’s not even ice cold!
But anyway, I’m seriously impressed by the effects. My knees are shit from years of bike riding/crashing etc. most days I end up in pain and often have disturbed sleep because they ache. But since getting a cheap #coldwatertherapy bath from Lidl and using it daily the improvement have been massive.

My friend, former co-worker and cancer survivor has this thing about cold water therapy stuff; she was in a local group here who did that and she’s found a place or two out where she is now in New Hampshire to continue.
