  1. Facilitator-guided group #cognitiveTherapy was not necessarily better than a self-guided worksheet version.

93 people were randomly assigned to each version of cognitive-reminiscence #therapy (another "CRT").

Both groups improved about the same amount.

  11. Albert Ellis was one of the co-creators of cognitive therapy. He was a traditional psychotherapist before that. His "Rational Therapy" was born when he ( having read Stoicism in his younger days ) started noticing that his patients who got better more quickly changed the way they thought about things. Though he would eventually condense this list Dr. Ellis noticed that these core beliefs were responsible for much of the unhappiness in his patients.

It is fully possible to scan for and identify intrusive, disturbing and alien/ating thoughts. Both #Buddhism and #rationalemotivetherapy #cognitivetherapy & #cognitivestherapy teach that "you are not those thoughts". Means it's time for sleep, meditation, medication, talk therapy, a walk with the dog, take a breathe. No need to act on such thoughts. In extreme exacerbation, or lacking insight, one may "Go Kanye". So to speak.
