Coffeeneuring Challenge 2024 is in the last days of its surprise extension. I don’t think I’ll be getting any more rides in before it’s officially over, so here’s a summary of my rides.

Final ride for #coffeeneuring2024. Trip No. 7 21mi 33.7km to the Coffee Factory Roasters in #RedLodge for a cappuccino. A snowstorm with 20mph 32kph winds came in from the NW just in time for the ride home, confirming that it is always a good idea to have ski goggles stashed in the panniers.

Through Carleton, across Hartwell Locks, through Experimental Farm then further west until I ran out of path at Iris. Back along some slightly different paths and had coffee at Happy Goat at Bank and Hopewell. #Coffeeneuring2024 #OttBike

Coffeeneuring 2024 ride 5. Got the standard Ortleib pannier bags new so I can get work to reimburse me. I might still look into one of the more grocery-style ones for food shopping. This was already nicer than wearing a backpack, even with just a laptop inside. Swinging my short legs over it will take getting used to.

But I might not ride this winter at all. The darkness is already depressing.

Yesterday's #coffeeneuring - #6 - along the canal to OPL Main branch to pick up @helendecruz.net's Wonderstruck then to Ottawa Bike Cafe for coffee. Back via canal, Riverdale and the Alta Vista branch to pick up more books. Gloomy and cold to start but turned into a nice day. Maybe the (partial) theme for this year should be books.

Halloween coffeeneuring - #5 - a short ride in search of more candy. Of course once I got back with the candy resupply the trick-or-treaters stopped arriving. And I had to have iced tea because all the coffee was gone. A nice ride though.

Coffeeneuring 2024 ride 4. Had the local REI bike shop install the rack and fenders I had delivered to the store, and AFAICT they did a good job installing them. The PDW fenders look super sharp and should be as good as the reviews say. The Topeak rack is just one that online rated as ok, but I wish the lock just slotted into the side instead of needing to lock it in place (the gaps in the top are too narrow).

The cafe, new to me, disappointed.

For my fourth coffeeneuring ride, I biked to East Pole Coffee Co. for a cortado. It was excellent. I intentionally hit 13 miles, because I needed one more 13+ mile ride to bump my Eddington number to 13.
