This weekend is Global Day of Coderetreat (GDCR) 2025! We hosted an internal event today, our first GDCR event actually – and more than 30 developers from 3 company divisions (not only IT!) showed up 🤩

There was lots of energy in the room, exchange, discussions, coding, code design, testing… Lots of learning! And lots of fun and laughter.

That was a very promising start! Looking forward to next year 😃

Passend dazu läuft dieses Wochenende mit der #FOSDEM (https://fosdem.org/2024/) eine Vernetzungsveranstaltung für free and open source software #FOSS.

Um unserer #Wegwerfgesellschaft, #Ressourcenverschwendung und #Vermüllung entgegen zu wirken, wurde jetzt Anfang Februar ein EU-weiter Rechtsanspruch auf Reparatur (allerdings nur für weiße Ware) verabschiedet (https://www.tagesschau.de/wirtschaft/verbraucher/eu-einigung-recht-auf-reparatur-100.html). Für die Beschaffung von Software in der öffentlichen Verwaltung haben bisher allerdings nur wenige Bundesländer im #Vergabrecht verankert, OpenSource zu priorisieren. Auf Bundesebene gibt es bisher auch noch keine Gesetzesinitiative, die entsprechenden Pläne aus dem Koalitionsvertrag umzusetzen, obwohl es inzwischen ein juristisches Gutachten von der @OSBA gibt (https://www.vergabeblog.de/2023-05-25/gutachten-zur-vorrangigen-beschaffung-von-open-source-software-durch-die-bundesverwaltung/).

Finally, the workshop day of #SoCraTes2023. Originally, I intended to join the #CodeRetreat as it was an awesome experience last year. Then @realn2s offered to co-facilitate a workshop together on "Painless Security" - couldn't resist! It ended up being quite insightful. Schemed 2 new #security projects to work on with folks. Was asked to host further #CTF sessions! So that's what we did until late in the night, having fun discovering secret information as an #ensemble. Just absolutely awesome.

Today I’m in #Mannheim at #utiligence facilitating a #ABAP #coderetreat together with #majcon.

First on-site event since a very long time. Really looking forward to a fun day.
