L'histoire d'une coccinelle impossible à terminer (pour le moment, j'espère)Il y a quelques temps j'avais commencé la création d'une coccinelle. Puis une période compliquée est arrivée et je n'ai plus réussi à toucher un crochet pendant un moment.

La grande coccinelle orange ou coccinelle à seize macules. Elle est mycophage et se nourrit également de pucerons. Elle fréquente les feuillus (frêne, sycomore..) en lisière forestière.

Tandis que la #coccinelle se cache, une #fourmi "trait" un de ses pucerons : elle lui caresse l'abdomen avec ses antennes et il rejette pour elle une goutte de son fameux miellat (ses excréments, très sucrés). Pas question pour la coccinelle de manger des pucerons sous si bonne garde! Si elle se fait voir, gare à elle!

I don't necessarily blame the #wlroots developers here, but each release has breaking changes which they could do better to document/manage.

Some of this information is excellent, but doesn't go far enough. When you have a API in flux, having tooling to help might be worthwhile.

I'd rather see something like #coccinelle scripts in #wlroots to help with the transition, akin to what #harelang are doing.
I know #hikari is coming from 0.15 as its starting point, but the fact remains there's going to be further breaking changes, and I feel this should be addressed.
I might have to see what I can do to help as I do feel this is important.
I know that if the delta between releases is small, the changes might be small, but that's not guaranteed to cause big, sweeping changes. Case in point is the whole wlr_output_damage deprecated for wlr_damage_ring -- we're not just talking changes to the API, but rather, changes in *functionality* which I still don't see documented anywhere.
Hmm. The future.... great....

I really enjoy keeping an eye on how hare is doing. From haging out on the various hare-XXX IRC channels, a lot is going on.
This latest tool, hare-update, is a really fascinating approach to dealing with an issue most language designers leave to the compiler to dump the problem onto the programmer.
The way hare-update works has similarities to smpl (Semantic Patch Language) which is what #coccinelle uses:

I mentioned this to Drew, and he's aware -- but I think given the problem domain, the way hare-update works is probably fine for not making hare-update coccinelle-aware, as it were.
