Seriously, I cannot emphasize this enough Canadian friends:
Bill C-22 SHALL NOT PASS! ⛔️
If you are Canadian, you must contact your representative ASAP to tell them you strongly oppose Bill C-22.
We cannot have this kind of authoritarianism in Canada (or anywhere else frankly).
More information here: https://action.openmedia.org/page/188754/action/1
Contact your representative(s) directly without the form by finding their contact information here: https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/search

I just emailed a strongly worded letter
to my government representative to oppose Bill C-22.If you are Canadian, you should too: https://action.openmedia.org/page/188754/action/1

@jfmezei I don't think that's fair to Mr. Guilbeault. My interpretation of his actions is that he decided the Transmountain Pipeline Expansion was a necessary evil in order to bring in the #CarbonTax. He was ready to make that compromise, but left cabinet once #MarkCarney zeroed out the tax and made it clear that more pipelines were likely.

"However, the provincial Justice Minister Mickey Amery insinuated last week that Alberta is more immune from such political connections..." And if you believe that, I've got some Turkish children's medicine to sell you. #ABLeg #CNDPoli

#Canadians, I have a question for you guys.
Let’s say that Carney’s speech is the moment that a line in the sand is drawn, and all the countries need to pick a side, but we get to pick our allies like picking teams on the school yard.
Which country are you picking first?
For me, it’s #Australia. 🇦🇺
My choice has nothing to do with military or strategy, and is 100% vibes. Ever since the 51st state rhetoric started, Australians online have been the loudest in their support for #Canada and distain for Trump. They co-exist with every dangerous animal on earth yet still seem chill AF. Plus, any society that collectively agree on a joke to troll the rest of the world with (#DropBears) is both hilarious and dangerous. Canadians and Aussies are like subliminal vs superliminal dangerous — think The Simpsons. Don’t fuck with Aussies, and don’t fuck with Canadians. Fuck yeah #Commonwealth buddies.#CAPoli #CobraChickenArmy #DropBearBrigade #CNDPoli #YvanEhtNioj

I had a local acquaintance message me about the Carney speech today after I shared it and referred to the speech as amazing. Her response was that “her feed had a completely different response” and shared a post from a professional rage troll.
It was in this moment I remembered a personal rule I have: if someone’s critical thinking skills are actually just being critical about everything, I immediately lose ALL respect for that person’s opinions on the matter. I am all for healthy discussion and dissecting talking points, but when I notice that person never seems to respond to anything positively, I question where their opinions actually stand, or if they exist at all. #CNDPoli #WorldEconomicForum #Davos2016

Just finished listening to the #PaulWells Holiday Show podcast. I found the most insight came from David Herle, particularly:
a) His recognition that #CanPol is deeply divided between those who think Canada is working reasonably well and want to defend it (Boomers), and those who think it isn't working well at all.
b) His remark that Quebeckers see that English Canada, rather than being a threat to French, is a protection against the real threat, the Americans.https://paulwells.substack.com/p/the-paul-wells-holiday-show-2025

@zazzoo
From the start of his leadership campaign, Mr. Poilievre has appealed to the many Canadians who feel the country is broken: that they're worse off than their parents, that they can't afford homes of their own, that many more Canadians are homeless, that crime is up, that the system is rigged against them. (You may say that these are misperceptions, but perhaps you'd agree that many Canadians do feel that way.)2/n

👋🇨🇦 Just a Reminder:
It wasn't until the 1960s that Canadian women could open a bank account without their father or husband's signature.
Women are still underpaid, most of the time we don't have equal pay for the same work and we lose out on financial equality due to the responsibility of taking care of childrenWe still have a long way to go to achieve equality,
Carney needs to restore funding to the women's portfolio.edit: Senior women, widows, are left without adequate pensions are often facing homelessness.

Can someone please tell Pablo Rodriguez that WE DO NOT ELECT A DEPUTY PREMIER, FFS.

"...with the wildly increasing rents and price of food, are you planning to provide some financial relief (tax-free)to those seniors who are struggling, or will you allow them to continue to become homeless-women, widows are the most affected. Not everyone has living family to provide support.
Looking forward to your respectful and thoughtful reply." -
Carney's approach to fighting climate change, is full of bargaining and hesitation. Not the bold leadership we need to meet our binding climate targets #cndpoli #fail #ClimateChange

For what it's worth, the #CPC opposed the government ordering flight attendants back to work: https://www.conservative.ca/conservatives-stand-with-workers/ -
Mark Carney's signature policy initiative (pre-Liberal leadership) was the Net Zero Banking Alliance. Its purpose was to accelerate climate action among financial institutions. It would be great if he could be bothered to show an interest in this, now that he's PM.

I listened to some lectures Mark Carney gave in the past, which were quite good.

But I'm quite disappointed by his failure to call out the genocide in Gaza today.

Absolutely. It’s amazing to me that this quite significant shift in our government has almost completely flown under the radar for most people. Also surprised to see that the change predates the 2015 election. Very happy that it seems to have been the end of the Triple-E nonsense too.
As you note though, at this point it is solely a practice of one leader, that can be changed at the whim of the next PM… I too hope Carney will entrench it.

Wait?! What? Danielle Smith is serving up lies, misinformation, for her own political benefit? Shocker!
