  1. Got some new 4-flute carbide endmills in. They can handle 8100rpm moving 500 in/min through .09" of medical grade countertop.

We just increased our machine speed by over 5x. The endmill costs $30 on MSC.

    Holy shit. #cncmachining #machining

  2. Very easy work day today. Estimated runtime of 3h9m to make 52 parts. We need 300 lol #machining #cncmachining #CNCMachinist

  3. Cool part coming through the shop today.

This boring looking rectangle with holes in it has a tolerance of +/- .0015"! It was a fun challenge to figure out how to hit that requirement with the tooling I have access to.

  4. Work was very funny today. We came up with a new machining strategy to use undersized scraps for our parts! This leftover fiberglass became springy.

I am very easily amused. #cncmachining

  5. I made a Time Gear from #PokemonMysteryDungeon!

This is made from Toplab. It's a bacteria-resistant wood composite that's used in the medical field for laboratory countertops. My machine shop uses a lot of this, so we always have plenty of scrap laying around for fun side projects :)

  6. Spent a bit of time making the bulk job I'm running at work easier on myself!

Drill the hole, trim the Z axis down, then cutout down to .09" above stock bottom. Pause to wait for me to start paying attention, then cut everything out. Sometimes the parts jump out, and I need to watch for collisions. #cncmachining #CNCMachinist #lazy

  7. After insulating the warehouse I had/have chunks of EPS foam left overs. Been testing various bits, feeds, and speeds to see if it’s a good medium to play in. Overall it holds up really well but you have to do Conventional cuts and sometimes tools like Vbits or 3d Carves go the other way requiring sanding (which is even messier with EPS.)

I like where it’s heading. Just need time to tune.
