  1. 🧱 **Stronger 3D Prints Are Here!** 🧱

Why wait for the future when you can enhance your prints today? The next big breakthrough in 3D printing is already at your fingertips! By utilizing alternating perimeter layers with a hexagonal wall layout, you can achieve stronger, more durable prints that stand the test of time.

This isn’t just about improving your prints; it’s about challenging the status quo. The recent video "Brick Layers: Stronger 3D Prints TODAY - instead of 2040 😬" by Geek Detour dives deep into the implications of a 2020 patent that could stifle innovation. After weeks of research, it became clear that there are significant weaknesses within this patent. The more we share this knowledge, the more empowered developers of open-source slicers will feel to implement "Brick Layers" without fear of legal repercussions.

As a community, we must not let outdated patents hold us back. Remember, a patent is only as strong as its ability to be defended in court. If challenged, the patent holders may find their claims indefensible when faced with prior art. This is our opportunity to push the boundaries of 3D printing and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Your support is invaluable in this journey. Together, we can ensure that creativity and innovation thrive in the 3D printing community.

Let’s unite and advocate for open-source solutions that empower everyone. Join the movement towards better 3D printing techniques and let’s innovate together!

  6. I got the kit from dfh.fm. I also got a couple of bags of black nickel plated inserts from them. Here you can see the very first two inserts I did. I pushed the black one down too far, but it still works.

You can also see that the side toward the camera is warped. :-(

I also went a little crazy and bought about 1,000 inserts from CNC Kitchen in all the sizes they have. So I guess I'm a heat set insert guy now.

  7. @m_berberich Laut ist Overture green-glowing PLA das hellste. Vllt gibts ja auch nen PETG dazu, was gleich gut ist?

  8. @linux_mclinuxface Good point, sounds like a great video idea for Stefan from CNCKitchen 🙂

Cubic/Gyroid infill, with '(max) infill anchor length' set to 1000 (i.e. infinite - pretty much makes another perimeter and reduces useless slow retractions) should be plenty strong for many use cases.

I'll try it out as well.

Do you mean you use the line itself? Interesting...

But if you want to use it as a filament, you need to dry it properly. #CNCKitchen did a video on it.

The strength is also dependent on your gemoetry. Of course plastic isn't as strong as metal, but do you really need that strength?

Sometimes metal seems very strong, but plastic will also work, the metal is a lot stronger than what you actually need.

Then we also have some tricks in the 3D printing world, we manipulate our gemoetries. We print in different orientations and use different temperature settings. Here are some good videos on the topic:
