Liberals stopped building houses, as they had for decades. That is what happened. Billy fell off his bicycle. Sarah bought an ice cream cone. Planes flew overhead, and Liberals stopped building residential units.

Conservatives also built no housing, but they didn't "stop"- just kept serving the rich.

Immigration increases economic activity far beyond its costs.

So racists have to lie about its economic effect, because using racism is very exposing.

Right off the bat, in #Carney's first press conference, no public, social housing.

Instead, "$25b in financing to private developers" in Build Canada Homes, ignoring #CMHC and the #BankofCanada.

His first neoliberal act was to fuck with the capital gains tax, now more corporate welfare to real estate vultures.

Not only this, but #Ontario #housing starts (from #CMHC) have been declining YoY for the past 4-5 years.

So much for #dougford 's touted "eliminating bureaucracy and red tape for builders", that was never the problem. Its the fact that a 4BR McMansion in the 905 nets a builder more than a 4plex in Trinity Bellwoods and way more than 4 units of a 100 unit apartment building.

The _only_ way to affordable housing is to give cities the money (or subsidies) to build it.
