Yesterday I decided to open-source my motocross club app. What followed was a lesson in psychological projection.
First, offering it with standard setup fees got backlash for being "too expensive." Wanting to help, I made it completely free. The reaction? "How will you make money?" followed by: "I knew he was doing it for money!"
When someone operates purely on self-interest, genuine altruism feels suspicious. They project their own cynicism because giving freely breaks their mental model.
Peak hypocrisy? That same person asked me to do her club duties, updating newbie training dates, because "she has to work." We all work.
Some people are simply no longer worth the emotional bandwidth.

Soda Pops was a short lived Waikiki all ages club that lasted through much of 1985. While it was all ages for some reason there was a smoking room in the back and teens sat in there and smoked mostly cloves until it filled up with smoke to the point it was like being tear gassed. The only band ever to play there was The Vacuum. I snapped a bunch of photos there and I hope you enjoy them! Oh, and I was a teen at the time.
