I encountered a mysterious #bug today. I use a water balance model written some time ago in c++. It runs well on my desktop. Today I tried to run it on our local #cloudstack VMs and results are unstable. I ran it for 1000 times with fixed inputs and sometimes the results differ. This does not happen on the desktop.
I don't understand why it works on regular machines but fails on Virtual Machines 🤔

Hey #fediverse, does anyone know which hosting companies are still implementing #Apache #CloudStack and/or #libcloud? I thought #Exoscale were, but it seems they have moved to a custom #OpenAPI based thing they made themselves. It's pretty good, but I was hoping to implement a standard... Wondering if it's worth exploring CloudStack further or it's a dead duck...? 🤔

The #s390x open source software team at IBM confirms the latest versions of various software packages run well on #Linux on #IBMZ & #LinuxONE

In October 2024 validation was maintained for over 30 projects, including: #Apache #CloudStack, #Alfresco, & #Calico

We also saw community CI added and binaries released for helm-unittest & tsduck, and CI support in the WebAssembly Binary Toolkit (wabt).

Cloudstack «из коробки» не знает что такое HA, предполагается, что для этого нужно использовать встроенный функционал MySQL или такое решение как Galera Cluster. Но мы пойдем другим путем и остановим свой выбор на Vitess – надежной, легко масштабируемой системы кластеризации для MySQL.

Написано по мотивам недавней статьи: Особенности национальной виртуализации на SharxBase и Большое тестирование российских систем виртуализации Оставим критику этих замечательных продуктов для тех кому с ними приходится работать. Ребята стараются и это уже не плохо. Такие проекты как OpenStack стоят достаточно дорого в обслуживании, если ваша компания не облачный провайдер или интегратор, а возможностей Proxmox не хватает для строительства IaaS.

Hey #dev #infrastructure #platform friends - What's good for managing a a bunch of #kvm machines accross a few bare metal machines for someone who's not done this kind of thing before.

I've looked at #Apache #Cloudstack as that was high up in the searches and that seems to be a nice all-in-one which is really what I need.

I've got simple, predicable/steady demand workloads that run in #docker, but want something which can relatively simply put some basic management, scaling and availability in place.
