What white Australia doesn’t seem to get is that Closing the Gap depends to a very large extent on *non-Indigenous* Australia moving. The point is not to ‘raise’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, or “look after them” better (I’m quoting a fellow Christmas party guest there). It’s about being co-intent on navigating that space between.
