  1. #Everest operators must vet climbers better, says ascent record holder
"British climber & guide who's made te most ascents to te peak by a non-Sherpa said.. 5 people hv died on Everest in 2026 & some faced problems at high altitudes, needing to be rescued fr te “death zone” while descend'g.. Cool told Reuters te need to filter out less experienced climbers.. #Nepal has acknowledged #risks fr congestion & #inexperienced #climbers by intro'g tighter controls & higher fees"🤦‍♂️

  2. If you like #RockClimbing in Europe and have ever been to, or plan on going to #SanVitoLoCapo in #Sicily, please consider donating for the renewal of the bolts in the over 1.000 routes there. This is such a large task and needs the help of all #climbers enjoying this wonderful #climbing area.

  3. To all climbers out there...

I wish you can use all the phrases in this picture in the upcoming year.

  4. There are many great #climbers atm since the sport gets more and more popular.

One athlete who dominates the scene since years, 10x world cup winner, 2x olympic gold medalist (Paris & Toyko) just made big news:

Janja Garnbret (SLO) flashed the extremly difficult rock-climbing route "Puro Dreaming" in Arco, IT. It's graded a 9a (without kneepads and other helpers).

She's the 3rd person ever who flashed (= finishing / "sending" a route without trying before) a 9a graded route after Adam Ondra (CZ) and Alex Megos (FRAnken).

Congrats and respect - this is an extraordinary archivement no words can describe.

  6. I just got some news from a friend and: #Climbers please do go to other climbers wearing rings while #climbing and explain the dangers to them. I don't care if it looks like mansplaining. Saving a finger is worth the discomfort.

  7. #Japanese officials want ‘selfish’ #MountFuji #climbers to pay for #offseason #rescue
"There have been cases when people have casually made requests to be rescued via mobile phone, as if they were ordering a #taxi.. Other countries require climbers to have #insurance & they charge anyone tt they have to rescue.. #Emergency #services had to be activated to help injured #hikers #everyday during the #climbingseason"
    Looks like #tyranny of the #illbred minority.🤔

  8. Some photos of my urban gardening experiments. The space is a 4x7 meter patio between two-story condos with few hours of sun at ground level. So the approach was to use climbing plants to form a trellis 2.5 meters high, which makes the most of the daylight hours.

On the trellis are growing chayotes (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chayote), "princess" squash, and passionflower (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passiflo).

  10. I am always amazed at the scale of Mt. #Everest. This video is rather amazing as it follows the traditional route to the #summit, passing the various camps and many #climbers on the way. It's crazy to think that for many decades and many expeditions, the mountain was mostly bereft of climbers but for the one or two expeditions in a given year. Now there are many. I'm amazed at the number of climbers, tents, and fixed ropes in this video even though I've read about them.
