  1. Takéto sneženie sa tu neobjavilo viac ako sto rokov.
Za jedinú noc v Reykjavíku napadlo 27 cm snehu, doprava skolabovala a úrady vyzvali ľudí, aby zostali doma.

I see no real change coming at the level of corporate or government action.

But if global heating continues on the scale that 2023 showed, we might as well move to the term climate shift, because there is nothing gradual about this.

An interesting episode on climate shift baselines. Thankyou.

Australia still coming to terms with our first nation indigenous knowledge encompassed in oral tradtition of story lines and songlines and Caring for Country. A continuous culture that stretches back over 60,000 years, of Storylines that encompass last ice age ecosystem changes and sea level rise from 12.000 years ago. Knowledge of managing wildfire, vegetation and wildlife.

Thanks for updating us on Bilbo.🐕

  5. Dang... my wife just called me and said she heard a transformer blow somewhere near our house. Then she heard a second boom.

I guess it could have been anything but the transformers in our neighborhood are on the ground and have covers over them. I suspect it's the heavy electrical load that is being placed on our section of the grid.

We've gone about four weeks with triple digit heat and I guess the equipment finally just gave up the ghost.

  6. Corporations are to blame on almost all sides when it comes to climate change.

With vast amounts of money to spend, they also spread ignorance and denial, and divert the blame to the people through marketing and media who will gladly take the cash and look the other way.

With multiple disasters like wildfires, supercharging the atmosphere with CO2 and extreme weather affecting people directly, we've gone beyond the steady progression of #ClimateChange and entered a #ClimateShift... where extreme events ramped up quickly and will continue into the foreseeable future.

This means we are headed towards the point of no return exponentially faster, and the hardships we see in distant countries will step closer by 1000's of miles a year.

As fast as things have accelerated, even over the last few years, it is my belief that things are now out of our hands.

But, wherever we are in the progression, it is our duty to continue fighting, if only to make it less extreme for future generations.

  7. FYI - I am no longer calling it climate change. It doesn't seem appropriate anymore. I am calling it a Climate Shift. It seems more apt considering how rapidly we just shifted gears with the accumulating catastrophes.
