Unfortunately, the #climateclassic cycle ride for today, which goes along the future Dutch sea front at 1 m altitude, was cancelled and/or shortened (depending on your start location). Why ? Because of the climate change that the ride tries to draw attention to !
The temperature and humidity were considered too high.
But we could still collect shirts at the start in Groningen so we were sort of committed to a minimum 60 km ride there and back, and we decided to follow the route all the way back to the furthest point from Groningen, before then riding to our respective homes.
Each person's total distance was different. For me it worked out as only 120 km instead of the expected 160 km total. It was indeed warm today and we rode at a relatively modest pace as a result. But very pleasant it was, with excellent company including @TheoZw and @twilwel
And there's some good news. Because it was cancelled for us this year, we have already paid the entrance fee for next year:

I didn't ride the Climate Classic today. It'd be a great thing to do, but it starts a long way away in the south of the country which makes it a bit inconvenient. But this afternoon I did ride out to where the route passes reasonably near our home to cheer people on. And then when I saw a group of velomobiles I rode with them for 10 km or so before turning off for home.
For me it was just a 65 km ride. For the others, 250 or 375 km ! Well done to all who took part.

Ik heb lekker gefietst, 73 km, van, tijdens en naar de #climateclassic. Verkeerd gereden, genoten van de route en de inspiratie plekken. En van het brood dat daar was (desem!!)
Al met al zit ik nu intens lekker onderuit. Wou dat het klimaat een procent zo goed ging als ik nu.
Notitie voor het nieuwe kabinet: actie moet, want we willen geen rode strepen meer. Die rode lijn moet echt weg!

Great idea to get the local water management authorities along the route involved, by asking them to participate in a relay ride!
A "waterschap" is responsible for managing everything related to water in a Dutch municipality or region: This is everything from drinking water to wastewater, and of course keeping the feet dry.
Congratulations, #ClimateClassic riders!

Aanstaande maandag is de #ClimateClassic en fiets ik 125km langs de toekomstige kustlijn van Nederland (de 1m-NAP-lijn), van Breda naar De Bilt. Met fietsen alleen verander je niets dus doen we ook een #klimaatbelofte. De mijne: minder sportkleding kopen, en meer delen over plantjes eten! Vandaar vandaag een recept!

Plant-pannenkoeken
400g meel (ik vind een mix van volkomen tarwe en boekweit het lekkerst)
1 liter sojamelk
Mespuntje zout
Zonnebloemolie om in te bakkenMix het meel, de sojamelk en het zout, laat een uur staan… bak!

Trainen voor de #Climateclassic ! Op 19 juni wil ik, samen met zo’n 1500 andere fietsers 375 kilometer fietsen om aandacht te vragen voor de (gevolgen van de) klimaatverandering.
