Now (2010-2025) at +0,31°C/decade there is no possible sequence of known climatic events that could bring us back to the previous trajectory ( +0.18°C/decade 1970-2010)
The next increase will be greater than the +72.2% in 2010 and will not occur between 25 yrs,

  8. Yesterday I saw this lovely pōhutukawa in bloom.

They're known as Aotearoa's Christmas trees, because of the time of the year they usually bloom by.

    Except it's barely November.

  11. That was just a pretty... odd view:
Because a severe warning weather was scheduled to start now, I went to the kitchen window to see it arrive and it did with strong gusts and quick darkening from dull summer day to autumn evening level lighting, but I also heard one neighbor yell the name of the cat living with them, then within 10 seconds the cat came running to that apartment, then another neighbor yelled and another cat came running to another building and then another to another and again for a fourth as if those cats had taken the hint from the first two, then the rain started, all within half a minute. Usually cats tend to seemingly make a show of refusing to come when yelled for, but apparently not with this weather incoming.
They say trees are expected to snap and plenty of severe lightning, again.

This year has reportedly had more lightning strikes than any year in at least 10 years, so far, in Sweden.
Meanwhile, in Stockholm they issued a warning against drinking water drought today, saying it's because #ClimateChanged and to expect that to happen in coming years.

  15. There probably is a new heat record for December in Norway.
Today between 11-12, it was measured to be 18.7°C (≈65.7°F) at Tafjord (western Norway, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tafjord). Almost room temperature, outdoors.
It is December 1. Should be winter.

    Spontaneously, oooh, nice.

  18. Well, look at that. The SST (sea surface temperature) is back to 2023 levels. Still very high as all of 2023 was record breaking. The excess heat has gone into melting ice or heating deeper in the oceans. Nothing about this helps most food crops.
