  1. Previous post was taken from this afternoon’s Guardian Politics Live.

I don’t think #Burnham realises he simply doesn’t have the luxury of time with #ClimateBreakdown. It’s here already.

He happens to be the PM when the music has not only stopped, but the chairs are smouldering.

So yes, there is literal firefighting to be done today, but there also has to be immediate recognition that ‘business as usual’ is broken. We simply can’t do it any more.

  5. I found myself briefly listening to Times Radio yesterday and honestly couldn’t tell if it was sarcasm or deludedness when someone started saying it was a huge relief UK water had been privatised…

  7. @ketan
Had to look up 'DSP' acronym!
= 'digital signal processing'! A proxy or direct measure for 'compute'?
And is there any sort of metric, or do we just consider power use (and somehow include time?)

  11. Mark Carney wants an oil pipeline to the west coast, so he can sell fossil fuels to Pacific markets and make "#CanadaStrong"

Meanwhile in other news, dwarfing the 20,000 being evacuated in BC wildfires, more than a 1,000,000 people evacuated from Chinese cities deluged by extreme rainfall. Shanghai gets over 300mm in just 1 day! #climatebreakdown #CarneyFail

  13. Absolute genius idea in #Calais to keep the streets cool during a #heatwave: borrowed from the Spanish villages where women crochet canopies (Alhaurín de la Torre), this is the recycled #plastic version. A light structure that makes a delighful leaf-like sound when wind blows through.
