The DR is IN!

Thank you for the dozens of people that worked to improve the existing native CLI in Drupal so that we can discover commands using symfony/runtime and symfony/console along with all the people that worked on similar efforts in the last 10 years! And also thanks to all the new commands that got added in the last 3 years to help normalize this latest effort.

In Drupal 11.4.0 (thank you so much core team!) and in Drupal 12.0.0, you can now natively rebuild cache and run cron using vendor/bin/dr!

The work isn't done yet! Now comes the fun part—commands, commands, commands!

CLI in Core Initiative Update #1

Last week we kicked off the initiative with a synchronous meeting using video chat followed up by creating Slack threads to continue the conversation for the week. This time was set to be friendly for Americas and Europe/Africa to start with based on discussions at DrupalCon Chicago 2026, but we talked about the best strategy to continue meetings at different times.

Before the meeting, I swapped into developer mode and fixed the test failures in package_manager after a lot of debugging to figure out how it was creating directories and running composer. That’s right, we’re green!
