Went to Melbourne today (only my 4th time since we moved to Ballarat) to see our dentist. I'm sure there are great dentists in Ballarat but our one in Melbourne is great enough for us to make the trek.

Also stopped in at our old haunt, #CliftonHill, and popped into #UncleDrew for a coffee – we used to live pretty much across the road. Was great to see the old crew who we'd known for so long.

The day was also a good reminder of one aspect of Melbourne we definitely don't miss: the traffic!

A few days ago, we went for a walk along the Merri Creek in Clifton Hill near sunset. Perfect timing for viewing a great number of bats. Here's a sequence of photos toward Melbourne that show how quickly the sky changed over just eight minutes.

Went for a walk along the Merri Creek today. Near the confluence with the Yarra, I spotted a couple of large lizards sunning themselves. They seemed pretty relaxed about me being getting closer gradually until I was within about two metres, and taking photos the whole time with my phone. It was in a fenced-off area with a gate that has a "No dogs" sign, so I guess they've learned to be relaxed about predators / people.

Can anyone help identify the species? My guess is some sort of Water Dragon. Absolutely gorgeous!
