Yesterday, I wrote a long thread about returning to full-time work after a long health-related break and then accidentally deleted it. Wh🥲😅ps!
The TL;DR is, 2 weeks ago, I joined the Centre for Language Evolution Studies #CLES at #NicolausCopernicusUni in Toruń 🇵🇱. As someone who roughly identifies as Baltic/Hanseatic Nordic European, I couldn't be happier to be back in a Hanseatic town that looks like my hometown by the sea (the river almost feels like it too)!
The brick gothic architecture is something I've really missed. The Collegium Maius, where I work almost looks like my highschool! -
Mission accomplished. The secret experiment has run its course, and our data collection is complete. 🤫 Long hours of galvanic skin response readings, an ominous clicking noise that may or may not have been intentional, and an alarming amount of duct tape used — because, of course. 👀 Now, the real work begins. If all goes well (and the data doesn’t self-destruct), expect some *very* interesting news in about a month. Stay tuned! 🖥️🔬⚡ #CLES #NCU #UMK #GSR

A new report from #cles. On the tin it says "A new vision for community wealth and power" - while maybe it isn't quite that, there are some sound things in there. For example:
"Rather than prioritising high growth and frontier sectors, which can realistically only hope to support the economy of a few places, the emphasis should be on a just transition within the everyday economy."
