One of my favorite movies, Midnight (1939), is currently on the Criterion Channel.
It’s a fun take in the Cinderella story, with delightful performances by the legendary John Barrymore, a young Don Ameche, and academy award winning actress Claudette Colbert.
It’s absolutely worth a watch if you have access to it.

“Benny’s Back and Colbert’s Got Him” — April 1, 1951
The third of four episodes of Jack Benny’s first season on TV. I haven’t yet been able to find out how to watch it these days, alas!

Another under-appreciated movie: “Three Came Home” (1950) from 20th Century-Fox, starring Claudette Colbert, directed by Jean Negulesco.

Torch Singer (1933), a pre-code melodrama. A singing star searches for her lost daughter. A bit sentimental for my tastes but Claudette Colbert makes anything worth seeing (and she wears some stunning gowns). In its own way it's quite pre-code.

Mitchell Leisen's #Midnight (1939) is a delightful screwball comedy w/ a razor-sharp script by #BillyWilder and #CharlesBrackett.
But it must be said — #ClaudetteColbert has better, more genuine chemistry w/ #JohnBarrymore than with either of the handsome young men she's paired with (#DonAmeche and #FrancisLederer).
It's streaming on Criterion Channel. Watch it and let me know if you agree or disagree!
