  1. Tonight on Art of Beatz Radio, a 20+ year tradition continues as I bring you my annual #Birthday extended #DJMix #DJSet. As I like to do, I go #Downtempo to #Dancefloor with #ClassicVinyl #ClassicTracks as well as brand new music from Auntie Flo, Oto Veltauri, Jeff Mills, Daz-I-Kue and much, much MORE for about 90 minutes. @Kumabear on cleanup duty to end the show with a half hour of music by Theo Parrish.

    All at #Midnight PT 0800 BST on CFRO 100.5FM #Vancouver and #Streaming at coopradio.radioapp.ca/

  2. Every now and then an opening track touches on perfection, almost reaching through speakers to grab listeners with unusually perfect production and arrangement. I'm always on the lookout for them.

Some retro examples I admire enough to feel they are classic are U2's 'Where The Streets Have No Name', John Grant's grippingly immersive and sonically playful 'Pale Green Ghosts', Grace Jones's 'Walking In The Rain', Fiona Apple's enchanting 'Extraordinary Machine', George Michael's 'Faith', Kate Bush's awe-inspiring epic 'Running Up That Hill', Madonna's 'Hung Up', Scissor Sisters' 'Laura', Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On', Eurythmics' 'Here Comes The Rain Again', Propaganda's ' 'Dream Within A Dream', Goldfrapp's 'Ooh La La' and so many more.

I'd say the 'So Ambiguous' opener from the latest excellent Röyksopp album is pretty perfect.
