Trying to avoid my #CKA exam prep I started playing Dwarf Fortress.

This image is edgy and fun, but for #df the wiki is very unavoidable as
1) the installation folder doesn't have a manual (Yes, I am that old)
2) The website (https://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/) does not have anything of this kind
3) The tutorial lasts about 5 seconds and barely touches on what is needed to prevent a fortress from dying one year in.

Today I learned about sailor.sh, which sets up a realistic #kubernetes exam environment locally, supporting #CKA, #CKAD and #CKS like exams. I'll soon be testing it, but from what I've seen and heard it works really well, neat!

This is a rehash of a LinkedIn post I made about #CKA exam study tips.

I used Mumshad Mannambeth 's excellent CKA course on Udemy (links at the end of the thread). This gave me access to the KodeKloud labs (which were probably the most valuable thing in helping me pass the exam).

It's fair to say that if you can pass all the labs, you have a very good chance of passing. I didn't need the killer.sh exam simulators! 😱

Important: if you're trying to pass this exam by learning how to install #Kubernetes on bare metal (home-lab or cloud virtual machines), stop! You're focussing on the wrong thing, you need practice on specific scenario labs.

By all means, if you want mastery of Kubernetes, do the bare metal thing, but you don't need it to pass the exam.

Just got a solid 99 on my #CKA renewal! Now it's time to hit the simulators and finish preparing for #CKS. #kubernetes

Does anyone UK-based have useful info on the cheapest way to do the Certified Kubernetes Administrator exam?

I'm getting bored of recruiters acting like I've just shat on their pillow when I say it isn't on my CV, so I figured this might give me half a chance of an interview (I get that it's popular, I just haven't had the misfortune of working with it yet)

(alternatively, if anyone's hiring a remote sysad/devops/cloud/platform engineer, and doesn't require k8s…)

I had an injured arm and had to cut down on typing for about two weeks, so I spontaneously subscribed to a training course for the Certified Kuberneted Administrator.

It was fun studying intensively and practicing cluster troubleshooting in the labs. And I‘m proud that I passed the exam with 100% at the first attempt 😊

If you’re into #Kubernetes, I highly recommend preparing for that certification, even if you don’t take the exam!

For personal reasons, I was not able to undergo the #CKA exam I wanted to do this year - was simply not possible, too many (even devastating) events took place in our private lifes.

So I reached out to the #LinuxFoundation, and asked for a prolongation of my exam period. I paid for it from my personal pocket, so I did not wanted to see this money wasted.
