#UK question: what is the difference between Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership in the UK (more specifically #Scotland if it changes anything)? Why would you choose one over the other? Is it just that "civil marriage" is more likely to get recognised internationally?
I can't seem to find any clear info on this online..
Edit:- this Reddit thread gives some info, but mostly unsourced. In this one someone summarised the England & Wales rules.
- this page from what seems to be a legal firm is quite useful and focuses on Scottish law.
Basically it seems that the few legal differences are inconsequential.

Australia is currently experiencing a series of 50 year anniversaries as we remember the many achievements of the Whitlam government, now embedded into our daily lives.
Today it is the anniversary of #CivilMarriage, now 80% of all Australian weddings. Thanks Gough Whitlam, thanks Lionel Murphy

🌈 Today's Jew of the Day is Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum!
Sharon Kleinbaum is a community leader, a civil rights activist, and a national force for good in the United States. She's currently the spiritual leader for Congregation Beit Simchat Torah, the world's largest LGBT synagogue in the world. She's been an avid activist for LGBT rights, and while she is a Reconstructionist Rabbi, her work with the Reform Movement lead to its acceptance of their support of civil marriage in 1996.
In addition to her work within Jewish circles, she's also extremely politically active, serving on Mayor Bloomberg's Commission on LGBTQ Runaway and Homeless Youth, the NYPD LGBT Advisory Committee, and the U.S. Department of State's Religion and Foreign Policy Working Group Sub-working Group on Social Justice. Most recently and importantly, she's been appointed by President Biden to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.
