  1. @essjayjay @pluralistic I think so too. And the current hasty, botched, ill-prepared proposal to increase the number of local authorities by about 150 *while keeping the number of councillors the same* is another example of the #SNP's phobia of having an educated, experienced, engaged #CivicSociety.

The reason our politicians are so useless is that we don't have an apparatus to train them. The reason we don't have an apparatus to train them is our politicians rightly fear new talent.

  4. User reviews on imdb can no longer be read without an account.

Once again I am reminded that social media is too important to leave to corporations.

What a terrible thing to do to everyone's generous contributions over the last 35(!) years.

EDIT: ah the founder stepped down in 2025

  7. Last time I wrote, “God Almighty, please don’t give us the leader Nigerians rightfully deserve .…

The question we must answer is, “Do Nigerians deserve the Peter Obis and the Baba Ahmed Dattis of this dispensation?”

Aren’t we more than deserving of the heisters who are perpetually grasshopering our famished land?

  8. Am I a brutal idiot, a tribal warlord, or a citizen dedicated to nation-building?

The answers we get, from you and me, will determine how long Nigeria keeps skirting the precipice.

The fortunes and the future (or no future) of Nigeria depend on the cumulative answers Nigerians give to that question.

  9. In that case, if optimism does have a middle name, it’s likely to be called Nigeria.

    Whaaat?

“You must be kidding me.” I can hear you say.

In a 2011 poll, Nigeria was tagged as the world’s most optimistic country.

That was back then. These days, and sadly so, Nigeria is a bye-word to even her citizens.
