CW: City the Animation S01E01
A boy wears a mini-skirt and people laugh at him.
What's so funny about that? That he's not following the stupid gender norms?

Am i the only one that felt uncomfortable with the first episode of City the Animation?
The skirt scenes felt... transphobe coded?

Finished the anime adaptation of City. I watched the dub because I wanted to be able to focus on KyoAni's artistry and not have to be bogged down by having to read subtitles.
The anime was nearly perfect, though I think I didn't enjoy it as much as Nichijou. Maybe because the show followed so many different characters? I'll definitely need to rewatch it at some point, subbed.
Though I want to mention that the last episode, with. most of the screentime devoted to a musical number starring all the characters wasn't dubbed. I suppose it was too ambitious a project for something that's meant to be practically simul-dubbed. I was just slightly miffed, however, since they managed to translate the two(!) rap musicals that the acting troupe put on stage.
The project was still impressive and ambitious and I'd put it up as one of the best anime achievements of the year.
-
I think City The Animation is overrated. It's pretty good, but it's not great. And that makes me worried about eventually watching Nichijou. What if I've already seen all the funny parts of Nichijou via clips?
-
While Nagumo, Niikura, and Izumi are the main characters of City The Animation, I think my favorite major character is Tsurubishi Makabe. He reminds me a lot of Randy Marsh from South Park.
-
City The Animation is the spiritual successor to another popular anime I've actually never watched, Nichijou. Maybe now that I've seen City The Animation, it's finally time for me to give Nichijou a shot.

I just started watching City: The Animation.
...I am not the only one who think that Midori Nagumo's outfit looks just like Sans' from Undertale and Deltarune, right?
-
I've just finished watching CITY THE ANIMATION. It was a bit of a strange one, but also very funny at times 🙂 #CITYTHEANIMATION #Anime

I don't usually watch new anime as they come out, but I'm so glad I made an exception for CITY: The Animation. Super funny, and such an impeccable sense of design. It's kind of like absurdist Busytown for adults.

does anyone else feel like #CityTheAnimation is kind of pretentious? it feels more like a graphic design project than an anime. I'm not saying it's bad, overall I like it. but I just feel like the core of the show, the characters and the humor, are just "good", compared to the production quality and visual presentation of the show, which is through the roof. it's not a well-balanced experience for me.

This week's CITY THE ANIMATION is mind blowing. Just completely packed with all kinds of delightful animation and comedy. Rewatching to catch some more detail... like this 4 frame sequence of Nagumo slamming the fridge door, tossing out a beer can with her left hand and catching it in her right.
