Das #ObriEL (ein frühes Mini-el City — nach Klage von British Leyland wegen deren Markennamen "Mini" wurde das Modell 1993 in den heute eher bekannten Namen #CityEL umbenannt), das vorher dem leider viel zu früh verstorbenen @Obri gehörte, hat heute seinen Standplatz gewechselt.

An einer Ampel haben uns von der Spur nebenan Bauarbeiter aus einem Pritschenwagen heraus gefragt, was sowas kosten würde und ob es mit Sprit fahre. 😁

Seit 2014 ausschließlich elektrisch unterwegs, teilweise schon seit 2003 mit #CityEL.

@kkarhan: Ich als Informatiker auch: #Oldtimer (#2CV/Ente) mit nur selbst ausgewählter Elektronik (Navi, LED-Scheinwerfer 🤩, Drehzahlmesser, Ölthermometer, u. 'ne ggf. rückbaubare elektronische Zündung — die einfach umsteckbare hatte nach ~20 Jahren den Geist aufgegeben u. den Hersteller gibt's nimmer), 'n #CityEL/MiniEL E-"Auto" aus den frühen 90ern (hat Elektronik, aber weder Internet, noch Bluetooth, Kameras, …) u. 'n Ducato Wohnmobil von 2001 (noch ohne CAN-Bus).

Here's mine, nicknamed "ObriEL" and old enough to be born as #MiniEl.

Unfortunately the #magicsmoke came out when I tried to figure out why it doesn't charge. 😒 (Took it over without documentation on any of the modifications from the legacy of a late friend, @Obri, hence also its nickname. So in case anyone knows CityEL repair shops in Switzerland accepting CityELs of unknown state…)

@NLK: Habe bereits eins: ein #CityEL aus den frühen 90ern, das ich nach seinem viel zu früh verstorbenen Vorbesitzer @Obri 😢 auf den Namen #ObriEL getauft habe.

Zumindest falls es zählt, dass es zwar ein Lenkrad und Dach hat und auch keinen Helm braucht, aber halt auch nur drei Räder hat und als Motorrad zugelassen ist.

Bräuchte aber mal 'n Spezialisten zum Reparieren der Elektronik. 😒

@kentindell: Issues like this and the Tesla peeping story currently making the round are some of the reasons why I (as an IT security guy) am happy to only own cars with neither #CANbus nor internet connectivity nor cameras. Even my #EV has no CAN bus—it's a #CityEL from the '90s. 😇 And my daily driver (or rather fortnightly driver) even has no electronics at all, at least ex works. And I can tell you the purpose of every part of it. (Do that with your car! 😉) It's a Citroën #2CV.

@GeoffCrowther: Wow, what a history of cars. And so diverse. I only had like 4 cars registered in those 29 years I have a driving license: '89 #2CV ('93-), '87 #CX ('03-'07), Ducato-based '01 Knaus Traveller ('11-; disguised as #Citroën Jumper/Relay) and a '90s #CityEL (a few months in '21)—but I still own all of them! Had some more 2CVs for cannibalising. Also have an #HY—probably has to wait for restoration until I'm retired. Same for bicycles: 2 Bromptons, 2 recumbents, 1 trike, 1 road bike.

@pws: Of course they sleep indoors! The Bromptons even in my flat. 😎 The #Winterbrompton (orange, with studded tires) hasn't seen the road (or snow) since the pandemic. 😒 The red #Brompton sleeps on a shoe tray. Bathing is an issue. Can only do the cleaning in the bathtub. 😟 The other #bicycles + the #CityEL are in the garage. (The #2CV has to park outside.) Haven't used the #RadiusHornet for years, though, especially not since I got the #KMX #trike. And the #Fateba #Longbike needs restoration.
