Unwisely, we decided to hike to a viewpoint on what was our hottest day so far. It was 37C, feeling more like 45C as we took the #CityCat to #Regatta & walked to #Brisbane Botanic Gardens, dripping wet in the humid heat. We continued up the trail, stopping to cool off in the trickle of Slaughter Falls. We later reached the lookout at Mount Coot-tha, hard-earned by us, unlike those sensible people stepping off an air-conditioned bus at the summit to take in the same far-reaching view. #Australia

We've been exploring all over #Brisbane. South Bank museums, art galleries & riverbank beaches. We've browsed the morning food markets at #Riverside, the expansive city botanical gardens & QUT buildings including the old Governor's house.We've relaxed in Felons #brewery for a lunchtime meal & tasty #craftbeer. The #CityCat & #KittyCat ferries are proving a great way to bounce around - easy travel with a breeze and a view! #Australia

Bye #GoldenBeach, it was a blast! We had smooth travel south: two buses, a train & a final bus delivered us to New Farm in #Brisbane & a new #HomeExchange. We settled in, did a quick shop & jumped on a #CityCat ferry to visit an old friend, unmet in 28 years, & his family in #Yeronga. What a way to see the city for the first time! A fantastic catch-up followed, kids & pizza everywhere. Drenched in warm torrential rain on our return, we watched the city shining at night, joyous. #Australia

Every day #Einstein the #StadtKater of #Darmstadt drops by and sits at our windows. When we meet him outside, he falls over and presents his fluff! I think he wants to adopt us.
