  1. I feel like there should be more turn-based sandbox city builder games.

Turn-based city builders are a very niche genre, but they're all on the minmax/puzzle side of the genre that I know of.

What if you could freely and creatively build something sandbox-style (think #CitiesSkylines / #OpenTTD / #TransportFever), and advance time and see the results of your infrastructure by pressing 'next turn'?

That could be really interesting. It's like a third way between agent and abstraction based models. It could solve the time scaling issues. It could lead to really interesting game design opportunities.

  2. I've been looking for a city-building or transport game that runs well on Steam Deck and is usable with a controller for ages, and I finally found one!

Transport Fever 2 runs and controls wonderfully on Deck. I can only recommend giving it a try!

For those who don't know, it's kind of like a 3D, high-fidelity OpenTTD. It's really fun and the sequel is coming out this year too.
