An unsung #film I recently discovered for myself is Buck and The Preacher. Directed by #SidneyPoitier and starring him and #HarryBelafonte , it is a brilliant deconstruction of the #western - it takes about 20 minutes to get off the ground, but once it does, damn. It is a critique of the genre similar to the one #JamesBaldwin posits in #TheDevilFindsWork - #westerns #cinemastudies #LitStudies #filmstudies @litstudies

To illustrate the effects of editing, I showed 2 scenes at coffee/tea shops: first in Secrets and Lies (no editing) and second in Heat (robust editing).
