"Canada risks losing its future scientists to other countries because the dollar amounts of annual grants have remained stagnant for nearly 20 years.
A Canada Graduate Scholarship from one of the three federal research funding agencies is $17,500 per year for a master's student or $21,000 per year for a doctoral student. Those amounts have not changed since 2003."I got 16k in the early 1980s from SSHRC topped up to 18 by the univ.

For all of the early career researchers #ECR out there, especially in Canada and applying to #CIHR, just wanted to share my trajectory trying to get a Project Grant funded over the past several years. After giving up on a previous idea after 2 tries, finally achieved some success after 5 (!) submissions this time.
It's a long road, and at least in our case, persistence did finally pay off with some bridge funding - enough to start some work and hopefully get the full funding next time!
