A1a. I love that #Ciclovía and #CicLAvía and #OpenStreets are being done in more locations. Hopefully they'll make some of those streets permanently open to all but non-emergency motor vehicles.

"Another cicLAvia is in the books! This time joining Hollywood with East Hollywood and West Hollywood. It was a hot one out there! I met up with Trashpanda Cycling for a little feeder ride into the event and then meandered up and down Hollywood Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. A massive sinkhole caused by a 110 year old water pipe bursting in West Hollywood cut the route short by about a half a mile. There was a massive world cup watch party right in the middle of Hollywood Blvd but I didn't stick around for that one. I always love seeing everyone out on bikes."

"People-powered vehicles only. No scooters, electric skateboards, hoverboards, and motorcycles. Class 1 e-bikes are ok. Class 2 are ok, but only if the throttle is off, Class 3 if pedal assist is off. Wheelchairs, manual or motorized, are welcome."

@ascentale @rasterweb @bikenite The largest group I ever rode with was the "group" at whatever the largest #CicLAvia I attended was. No, actually Critical Mass in the '90s. As far as intentional groups? Probably one of the few Davis Bike Party rides I got in before a horribly ableist comment by one of the sponsors made me stop attending.
You're brave to cycle in that big a group. I actually hate big group rides since they're usually chaotic to the point of collision. #BikeNite

@ascentale @pete @bikenite A4. Due to accessibility and other reasons, it's been hard for me to get into regular events. There's usually an ableism and/or sexism factor pushing me out. However, the event I've attended the most besides '90s Critical Mass is #CicLAvia. Open Streets events are a lot of fun and way more successful at winning hearts & minds than I would have predicted. #BikeNite

@ascentale @plactagonic @bikenite A7. I've wanted to attend more than I've been able to attend. I had tickets to Spezi this year and am bitterly disappointed I couldn't make it in time. However, I did attend Recumbent Cycle-Con when it was still held on the West Coast. https://www.flickr.com/photos/spidra/10637801353 It was a great place to get to try riding cycles that are not always easy to see, much less ride. I highly recommend it to those in the US.

It was Sunday in Panama City and I had plans. The weekend before I had been hiking on Barro Colorado, the island in the middle of Lago de Gatún that serves as the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. A biodiverse island in the middle of the Panama Canal and asphalt may not sound like they go together but that's me in a nutshell.
